Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd is a manufacturer of motorized vehicles, motorcycles and marine engines. It was founded on 1 July 1955 as a spin-off from the Yamaha Corporation, which in turn was initially Nippon Gakki, founded in 1897 and established itself as a manufacturer of organs and pianos. It is in fact known as "The house of the three tuning forks", reported in its symbol in reference to the origins of the parent company.
Yamaha is the second largest motorcycle manufacturing company in the world, after its compatriot Honda.
