The Morris Motor Company was a British automobile manufacturer founded in 1910 and active until 1952. The brand was used until 1984.
The company was started by William Morris in Cowley, near Oxford, England. Although it was acquired by BMC in 1952 and then by British Leyland in 1967, the Morris name was used as a car brand until 1984, when it was abolished as the ownership group decided to focus on the more popular Austin brand. Ownership of the Morris name was subsequently passed to the Rover Group (1986), BAe (1988), BMW (1994), NAC (2000) and finally SAIC (2007).
