Mercedes-Benz AMG GTS - 2015
Model history and curiosity
Mercedes in 2012 decided to give life to a new concept of super sports car by replacing the SLS. The AMG GT and GTS were born in the Affalterbach racing department. Many ideas were taken from the latter, starting from shortening the wheelbase by 5cm to rounding off the lines and various modifications such as the adoption of the Spaceframe type load-bearing body (technology used by the aeronautics) which lightened the car considerably (weight car 1517 kg).
Even the weights were better distributed, placing the engine and the gearbox at the front instead of at the rear of the train.
Low center of gravity of the car mounts V8 engine lubricated by a dry sump. The 3962 cm2 engine is powered by two turbochargers that reach 510 hp at 6250 rpm, against the 462 hp base model.
The 7-speed robotic double clutch, on the other hand, transfers all the driving force to the rear axle with 4 programs, which can be set by the driver thanks to the carbon fiber drive shaft.
The forged aluminum suspensions, on the other hand, feature the Ride Control function to customize the shock absorber configuration, followed by 390mm front and 360mm rear self-ventilated discs, distinguishable from the basic versions thanks to the red calipers.
The electronics have different mappings and also the Dynamic plus AMG which has dynamic supports for the engine and gearbox.
