Description
The car was first registered on September 30, 1923, in Barcelona. It then passed to its second owner in 1940.
The car survived both wars and was recovered by its third and final owner, a well-known collector of pre-war cars who purchased it in 2006 with the fenders of later series and a TIPO 67 engine with the initials CGC. A lengthy restoration was then undertaken. We have numerous invoices available for the work carried out between 2018 and 2022.
This story, however, is incredible. We currently have the period documents, the original photo showing the license plate number, Spanish registration plates, and the car's identification plate, as well as photos from when the car was purchased before the restoration.
Model history and curiosity
The Lancia Lambda (produced between 1922 and 1931) is one of the most revolutionary cars in the history of automotive engineering. Designed by founder Vincenzo Lancia, it was the world's first car with a unitized bodyshell and independent front suspension.
The Lambda introduced solutions that would become universal standards in the following decades:
-Unionized Bodyshell: It replaced the traditional separate chassis with side members, offering superior structural rigidity, reduced weight, and a lower center of gravity.
-Independent Front Suspension: Each front wheel had its own shock absorber system, radically improving stability, comfort, and road holding.
-Narrow V Engine: It was powered by an innovative narrow-V 4-cylinder engine with an aluminum crankcase and overhead camshaft.
Officially launched after a legendary test in September 1921 on the Mont Cenis Pass, the car was produced in nine different series, totaling 13,003 units. The most classic versions had a "Torpedo" body and could accommodate up to six or seven passengers thanks to the longer wheelbase in the later series.
Although it was originally designed as a touring car and did not have stratospheric top speeds (the first models reached 115 km/h, reaching approximately 125 km/h for the later versions with 2570 cc displacement), its unbeatable road holding allowed it to compete successfully in road races such as the Mille Miglia. Today, it is a priceless collector's item, estimated at hundreds of thousands of euros for the best-preserved original examples.
