The W460 designation identifies the first generation of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, a vehicle produced by the German company Mercedes-Benz and the Austrian company Steyr-Daimler-Puch from 1979 to 1991.

The W460 was the first model in the so-called G-Class, known over the decades for its rugged off-road capabilities. It was produced by a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch called GFG (Geländefahrzeug Gesellschaft = Off-Road Vehicle Production Company).

The model we're featuring is a 200GE, a special engine designed exclusively for the Italian market, where at the time there was a heavy tax regime for cars with an engine displacement of over two liters. This 1997cc, fuel-injected engine delivered a maximum power output of 109 hp. The model in question was marketed as the 200 GE. During the same year, the short-wheelbase van version disappeared from the price list. Only 610 short-wheelbase versions of this model were built from 1987 to 1990, divided into curtainsider, long-wheelbase, and short-wheelbase versions.
The vehicle offered has license plates from the first registration in October 1986, with the province of Trento. Excellent overall mechanical condition. Maintenance work was performed on the fuel tank in February 2026, including cleaning of the injector and fuel pumps, and replacement of the fuel lines and spark plug wires. The original fabric interior is magnificently preserved, and the body and chassis have never been off-road. It should be noted that the body has a mark on the passenger-side door, and the driver-side floor pan needs to be revised. Inspected until May 2027. ASI registered.
