Model history and curiosity
In 1986, the "1.8 Turbo" was introduced, powered by a 155 hp turbocharged version of the classic 1,779 cc twin-cam engine. The first version had an interior similar to the 2.5 QV, as did the exterior, except for the flared fender flares and a few other details. Later, in the subsequent "America" and "Quadrifoglio" versions, it adopted the exterior and interior styling of its 3.0 V6 sibling; the 1.8i Turbo was the first supercharged Alfa Romeo produced in large series by the Milanese manufacturer.
However, to obtain international Group A homologation, a production run of at least 500 units was required, and this gave rise to the Alfa 75 "Turbo Evoluzione" version, with the standard "Turbo" engine modified to 1,762 cc.
The Turbo Evoluzione's bodywork was very eye-catching (front spoiler, side skirts, color-matched wheels, and decals).
