Model history and curiosity
The Benelli Quattro name refers to a series of motorcycles built under the Benelli and Moto Guzzi brands between 1974 and 1986.
Sold under the name GTS 350, it was equipped with a 345.5 cm³, single-cam, four-cylinder engine (bore x stroke 50 x 44 mm), producing 31 hp and a top speed of approximately 160 km/h. Initially, it had a four-shoe, double-cam drum brake at the front (like its sister model, the "500," differing only in some aesthetic changes), replaced in 1975 by a more modern disc brake.
Also released that year was the larger 400cc version (bore x stroke 50 x 50.6 mm, for a total of 397.2 cc), producing 40 hp and a top speed of 170 km/h, designed to compete with Honda, Kawasaki, and Suzuki models of similar displacement. Due to its high price (1,335,000 lire in 1975, 11% more than the Honda CB350 Four and even higher than the Moto Morini 3.5 and the MV Agusta "Ipotesi"), its components (substandard, resulting in a decline in reliability), and the fact that it wasn't considered a "true" Guzzi, the GTS remained in the catalog only until 1979.
