Financing optionsDescription
The first motorcycle with an automatic transmission, the motorcycle of Italian coachbuilders.
We offer a beautiful 1978 Moto Guzzi IConvert with original license plates and documents. Just over 5,000 units of this model were produced worldwide. Meticulously preserved in every detail, from the original paintwork to the chrome parts, the mechanics and automatic transmission, which were overhauled with a complete overhaul performed in 2024. It features the beautiful optional California-style windshield, side bags, and a chrome engine guard.
Model history and curiosity
Production of the I-Convert, which established itself as Guzzi's flagship in terms of engine size, price, and equipment, began in 1975, but the bike was not very successful, both due to its price (2,694,900 lire in 1975) and its automatic transmission, which was unpopular with motorcyclists in both Europe and the US. Production ended in 1984 after 5,452 units had been produced, of which 1,376 were exported to the US, a thousand to France, and approximately 60 sold to the Cuirassiers.
The I-Convert's main feature is its transmission, developed in collaboration with Sachs: it is a progressive hydraulic torque converter, coupled with a two-speed gearbox (a short gear, allowing speeds of up to 130 km/h, and a long gear, allowing speeds of up to 170 km/h) operated by a pedal. The clutch lever, however, remains, retained as a safety device.
