Description

Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 16V Cup Limited Edition—one of 419 built, comprising 239 units with the 2.0 TwinSpark engine and 180 with the 3.0 V6 Busso engine.

This is limited edition car number 052 of 239; it comes to us from an Alfa Romeo collector who cherished and carefully preserved the vehicle over the years.

Model history and curiosity

In 1999, Alfa Romeo launched the single-make championship called the GTV Cup. Only owners of the turbocharged or naturally aspirated V6 Busso versions could enter this competition, although the newly developed 3.0 V6 24-valve engine, already prepared for racing and convertible for road use, was available for purchase. This version featured a complete aerodynamic kit, sports shock absorbers and springs, a control unit boosted to 230 horsepower, and a weight saving of 200 kg, thanks to the elimination of all interior trim except the dashboard and center console. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 5.4 seconds, and the top speed is over 260 km/h.

Two "celebratory" versions, dubbed the Cup, were released. The 2.0 T.S. and the 3.0 24v were in production, so the 2.0 T.S. was chosen for the Italian market. while for the foreign one, more consistently, for the 3.0 V6 24v (around 200 units were booked in Great Britain). In fact, both "Cups" are normal 2.0 Twin Spark (155 horsepower) and 3.0 24v (218 horsepower) with the standard aerodynamic kit, 17" 5-hole wheels (the same as the "Lusso" trim but with silver paint), Brembo front braking system also for the 2.0 T.S., dedicated leather seats with fabric base, chrome instrument bezels like the "Motus" versions and the "limited number" plaque attached to the dashboard. The declared top speed, with the aerodynamic appendages and 17" wheels, becomes 221 km/h for the 2.0 T.S. and 248 km/h for the 3.0 24v.
